BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — Keeping violence out of the Capital City is the main focus of a meeting in downtown Baton Rouge this evening.

City officials, law enforcement officers and community members met in one room. They were hoping to figure out a plan on how to do it.

From there, they talked about the possibility of keeping a jail open 24 hours a day and introducing more programs to keep people off of drugs.

Tonight, plans on how to fund these crime prevention programs were not discussed.

We're told that'll probably be discussed in a meeting scheduled for next month.
