BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — The Our Home, Louisiana Coalition--founded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana to help those affected by the oil spill in the Gulf last year — has relaunched a toll-free Information resource line to provide support to Louisiana flood victims.

The toll-free Information Resource Line, 800.424.1856, is available to all Louisianians 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT on weekdays, excluding holidays. The resource line helps Louisiana residents to more effectively cope with the effects of the current floods by providing access to educational materials, support agencies and community resources.

“We recognized the need to relaunch this Information Resource Line to provide additional emotional support to those affected by the flooding. This is our home, and we are aware of the devastation disasters like flooding, hurricanes and unexpected oil spills bring to the people of our state,” said John Maginnis, vice president of corporate communications at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana.

Last week Blue Cross activated a “Flood Updates” page on its website, The website lists all the special services the company is offering to members who live in the affected areas, including care management by in-house nurses and early prescription refills in certain parishes.
