BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - LSU head coach Les Miles was named SEC Coach of the Year and junior cornerback Morris Claiborne was named Defensive Player of the Year by the SEC Coaches Wednesday. Claiborne is the second straight player from LSU to win the award. Patrick Peterson took home the honor last year.
Claiborne has 46 tackles on the season. The Shreveport native also has six interceptions, 12 passes defended and six pass break ups in 2011.
Miles has guided the Tigers to the first perfect season in LSU history. The Tigers sport a record of 13-0 and will face the Alabama Crimson Tide on January 9 for the BCS title.
