Mississippi man admits to robbery on Claycut Road
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) -- A Mississippi man came to Baton Rouge on a Greyhound Bus, then allegedly robbed and nearly killed two people.
Jason Morris admitted to committing the crime at around 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 13. Sgt. Don Stone with the Baton Rouge Police Department says that in his confession, Morris stated that he committed the crime because he needed money after exiting the bus.
Morris went to a home on Claycut Road, knocked on the door, then asked the woman to use her phone. The woman handed Morris the phone outside, but he forced his way into the home. At some point, Morris fired two shots – once at the woman, and then once at a second person inside the home.
Police located Morris shortly after the incident on the 4800 block of North Blvd. He was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of Home Invasion, Home Robbery, 2 Counts of Attempted Murder, and Illegal use of a Weapon.
