MORGANZA, LA (FOX44) - The US Army Corps of Engineers says only three days are still open at the Morganza Spillway, and they could all close this weekend.
The spillway opened for the first time in nearly 40 years on May 14th. That's when two bays were opened to divert water from the rising Mississippi to the Atchafalaya basin.
At it's peak - 17 bays were open. Since then, bays have been closing rapidly as the crest on the Mississippi has long passed.
