BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A mother of three was issued a misdemeanor summons for Attempted Criminal Abandonment this weekend. That’s because the Baton Rouge Police Department says she tried to leave her children at a fire station on Sharp Road.
Officials with BRPD say Jennifer Coleman, 25, approached a firefighter at Fire Station No. 13 on Saturday, March 17. Allegedly she told the firefighter that she did not want her three children anymore, and the father did not want them, either.
Although Louisiana is a safe haven state, that law only pertains to newborns under 31 days old.
A misdemeanor summons was issued for Attempted Criminal Abandonment. The children will likely be placed with child services.
