HAMMOND, La (FOX44) - An animal rescue organization is stepping up to help pets with no place to go.
The Tangi Humane Society is readying their new shelter so they can take in more dogs and cats in Livingston and Tangipahoa Parishes.
Right now, Livingston doesn't have parish wide animal control.
There are shelters in cities like Denham Springs, but outside city limits, there's not much to be done for a stray dog or an animal cruelty case.
That's when groups, like Tangi Humane Society, come to the rescue.
The founder of the volunteer organization says, the burden is too big to carry alone.
Tangi Humane Society received a large donation to buy a new facility.
The group will begin moving into the shelter as early as next week.
