New Federal Regulations bans Truckers and Bus Drivers from using cell phones
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - Starting today truckers and bus drivers have to put down their cellphones.
The ban makes it illegal for truckers to use their cellphones while driving, accept if they use a hands free device.
The ban will affect up to four million people who drive a commercial liner or bus.
Truckers say it may be inconvenient when calling home, but they say it keeps fellow truckers and other drivers safe.
"We need both hands on the wheel at all times anyhow, and it's gonna be a big distraction with these big trucks, somebody stops in front of us, we're looking down at a cell phone, we're gonna wind up running over them," said Trucker Danny Britt.
