New rolling restaurant picking up speed
Puts Cajun twist on fast food
BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — Rolling restaurants are gaining speed in Baton Rouge and one new company in the capitol city says their food truck is different than all the rest.
Tim Houk has always wanted to own a food truck "This is my fun," he says. "This is my passion project. It's what I've always wanted to do."
When an ad for an old truck popped up on Craigslist, he says it was fate. "I bought the truck not knowing what I was going to do with it, and it kind of worked itself out."
Six months and a fresh coat of paint later, his rolling restaurant, Salivation Station, was ready for business. "Wherever the public is we try to be," says Houk.
Just two weeks ago, Houk and his business partner, Jesse LeBlanc, took to the streets to test their take-out. "Our menu is very unique. There's no restaurants or food trucks doing the type of food we have," says Houk.
Salivation Station specializes in unique sandwiches, all cooked up on the truck in minutes. "We decided to do wraps and paninis with a Louisiana twist to it," says co-owner Jesse LeBlanc.
Their Cajun cuisine is getting a positive response. "A little bit of jambalaya with thicker meat in it," says one customer. "The sauce is really good. I like it."
Already, business is booming. "One of the ladies came in the week before and at and she brought ten other people with her next time," LeBlanc explains.
Salivation station isn't the only vending vehicle in Baton Rouge, but their spin on a regular sandwich shop has customers hoping they'll show up nearby.
Salivation Station is in a new spot everyday, and they let their customers know where they're going to be online. Find out where they'll be next at the links below.
