New in Theaters - December 30, 2011

HOLLYWOOD, CA (FOX44) – Tom Cruise climbs the world's tallest building, hoping his "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" retains the top spot, for the second straight week.

Meanwhile the end of 2011 welcomes some other high profile, releases, opening at a theater near you. Director Steven Spielberg heads back to battle, this time following "War Horse" and an intertwining storyline set during World War I.

Tackling September 11, 10-years after the attack in New York City, Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock star in this touching story of a young boy searching for answers when he finds a key left behind by his late father.

Already getting Oscar buzz for her performance, Meryl Streep takes on another real life icon in "The Iron Lady", playing British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

And besides the 4th Mission Impossible installment, these new indie films will also have to battle "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", "Alvin and The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked", "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "The Adventures of Tintin", all looking for their share of the box-office treasure.
