NEW YORK, NY (FOX44) – Horror flicks, tattoos and franchises. In typical fashion, the first weekend in January is slow, with limited new arrivals, making it a perfect time for the low-budget horror flick "The Devil Inside" to scare up some new business. This time the "found footage" style-flick takes audiences to Italy as a woman investigates a series of murders and becomes part of unauthorized exorcisms.
Keeping on the indie beat a guy with rock-n-roll dreams loses his career gig on the road and heads back to his hometown to try and piece his life back together in "Roadie" in theaters and available on demand.
But this year may still be all about last year's franchises with Tom Cruise out to achieve the ultimate Mission Impossible and top the box office for another week with "Ghost Protocol". Sherlock Holmes is still on the case to get folks intrigued by "A Game of Shadows". And "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" revved up to entertain fans of the book, those new to the tale, and viewers who just feel like seeing this version a second time around.
Repeat viewing, or check out a newbie with plenty of entertainment in store to kick off this New Year at the movies.
