NEW ORLEANS, LA (FOX44) The New Orleans Police Chief proposes, then drops a controversial program to identify homes investigated for drug activity.
Tuesday Chief Ronal Serpas announced officers would place an orange sticker on houses where a Crimestoppers tip led to a narcotics related warrant. But that lead to an immediate black-lash. Critics said the stickers are a violation of privacy. They argue the stickers would target innocent people, instead of fighting crime.
Wednesday Serpas announced his department would not move forward with the program. He says without community support, the sticker strategy would not be successful.
