Old Jefferson residents unhappy about park changes

BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - Folks in the Old Jefferson subdivision may lose their neighborhood park as they know it.

Residents met with BREC last night to discuss renovations to the park that's been part of their community for over thirty years.

BREC wants to take out most of the play ground equipment and swimming pool.
they say they would replace them with a gazebo and walking paths. Kids have played on that playground for at least fifteen years, not to mention how many learned how to swim in the pool.

They also want to do away with the old tennis courts. BREC says they can be better served as half basketball courts. They aren't doing away with the main exercise facility, but they haven't fixed it up either.

Nathan teaford is the president of the neighborhood association in Old Jefferson.
He says they're not getting a fair deal.
