'Operation Overdose' yeilds 18 arrests in BR

BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) -- The Baton Rouge Police Department in conjunction with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police and US Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force conducted a warrant round-up during the early morning hours of October 25th, 2011. The round-up resulted in 18 arrests of individuals from 3 different parishes.

Operation “Overdose” is an ongoing investigation that targets individuals who seek multiple doctors to obtain the same controlled prescription drugs and individuals who use fraudulent means to obtain the prescription drugs. These individuals commonly travel to doctors in Texas who freely prescribe controlled substances while also under the care of local practitioners for the same medical problem. Those prescriptions are then filled at different local pharmacies. The majority of the illegally obtained narcotics usually are sold on the street for profit for as much as one dollar per milligram.

The arrestees who were arrested for Obtaining a CDS from Doctors were:

Edwards Charles Butler, 37, Catherine Bell, 59, Michael Carney, 49, Paula Adams, 37, Seretha Renea Brown, 33, Allison M Barras, 34, Brandee Alicia Davis, 36, Lawrence Harrell Brown, 52, James Hinon Barnes, 60, Stephanie Elaine Aydell, 30, Kenneth Craig, 31, Deidrick Louis Coleman, 27, and Darryl Branch, 46.

The Arrestees who were arrested for Obtaining a CDS by Fraud were:

Tieishier White, 29, Joshua E Dake, 28, Calandra Danyell Crockett, 31, Kevin Douglas Reed, 29, and Christy Danielle Winley, 23.
