BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — One of the most talked-about new laws in the state of Louisiana allows older prisoners a chance at parole.
The change is supposed to help relieve some of the burden on overpopulated state institutions.
FOX44 checked with the Department of Corrections, and only about a dozen inmates are eligible across the entire state.
Here are the rules: inmates must be at least 60 years old, have to have served ten years already, and no one convicted of a violent crime or a sex crime can apply.
