Person of interest in LSU fan assault video heads to New Orleans for questioning
NEW ORLEANS, LA (FOX44) — According to several reports, the man wanted for allegedly assaulting a passed out LSU fan on Bourbon Street is on his way to New Orleans.
A news station in Russell County, Alabama says Brian Downing and his attorney are on their way to meet with a New Orleans Police sex crimes investigator.
We're told the pair left for New Orleans several hours ago.
The man has been identified by New Orleans Police as a person of interest.
That after police took a look at this video. It shows a passed out man in an LSU jersey and Alabama fans putting their fingers in his ears, nose, even putting food containers on top of him.
At one point in the video the man is shown with his genitals on the victim’s forehead.
Now we want to reiterate he's only described as a person of interest. He has no warrants for his arrest this evening.
A news station in Alabama is reporting Downing worked for Hibbett Sports, though the manager wouldn't say what position he held or how long he'd been there. We've learned the man wanted for questioning has been fired from his job at Hibbett.
The manager releasing a statement saying, "it doesn't represent anything about our company."
We're told the termination came after the manager saw the video.
