AROUND THE WORLD (FOX44) – The Philippines, police say an American woman, her son, and a relative are now being held by the suspects. A witness says the three were dragged to a boat and vanished. The two Americans are from Virginia and were on vacation with relatives on the island. Last month tourists were told not to visit areas in the Southern Philippines.

Afghanistan – The half brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai was assassinated today. Ahmed Karzai was gunned down by a bodyguard and close friend. Moments after the shooting, Karzai's murderer was killed by his other body guards. The Taliban says they'd been working with the killer for some time now.

Bolivia – People are running out of gas and these protestors are a big part of the problem. Angry residents have formed a blockade outside a major production facility. They're doing it to get the government to start providing basic services like water, electricity, and a sewage system. These people say they won't budge until they see some changes.

China – Things are looking better for the toddler who fell from an apartment from ten stories up. She's been in a coma for over a week but the two year old opened her eyes today and called out for her mother. The baby was saved by a passer-by who reached out and caught her.

Hungary – People here are about to pay more to satisfy their junk food cravings. The government just passed a new law that puts a hefty tax on foods that are high in sugar and sodium. They're also upping prices on energy drinks.
