BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A big boost is coming for Louisiana's film industry, and it'll create 75 new direct jobs in television and film in Baton Rouge.
Pixomondo is coming to the Celtic Media Center.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because Pixomondo picked up an Oscar on Sunday for visual effects work in "Hugo".
The company will take up about 6,000 square feet, and invest a little over a million dollars.
"This is great news - meaning our children don't have to move to Austin, Houston, Dallas or Atlanta,” stated Governor Bobby Jindal. “They can get great paying jobs right here in Louisiana. For too many years, we were losing out kids. For the last few years, in a row, we've had more people move in the state rather than leave."
Pixomondo will open shop in May. Average salaries will be in the $65,000 range.
Pixomondo was attracted to louisiana because of film industry tax credits.
