Police heating up pursuit on air conditioner theives
BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - Police say they will find whoever is responsible for ripping off several local churches.
Chief Dewayne White had that warning to the thieves that took apart a/c units at those churches just for their copper.
Over the past two weeks 7 area churches have been left without air conditioning.
A new law is looking to stop these copper thieves in their tracks and those in the scrap metal industry are all for it.
The new law goes into effect on august 15th to try and make it harder for criminals to get away with these types of crimes.
Local pastors and law enforcement officials are speaking out over a rash of copper thefts from several churches in south Baton Rouge.
