BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) -- Investigators for the Baton Rouge Police Department are looking into an attempted kidnapping that occurred on Feb. 15.

At around 11:20 a.m., a man entered the gym of a local church preschool holding a rose in his left hand.

When faculty stopped that man and asked his purpose, he quickly gave the name of a child and stated he was there to pick them up; he also was curious about the age of the children in the gym. Preschool staff told him there was no child by that name.

The suspect walked outside and quickly returned, saying he was really there to pick up a different student. School faculty told him he was unauthorized to pick up the child. The man then left. It is believed by investigators that he got the second student's name off of a nearby wall illustration at the school.

The suspect is described as:

White male, 23-26 years of age

Height: 5’9 to 5’11

Weight: 175-185

Hair: Brown

Last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, black skull cap, blue jeans and sunglasses

Description of vehicle: Newer model red Chevrolet pickup truck with a white sticker on the back glass.
