Prisons considering using recycled prescription drugs to save money
LOUISIANA (FOX44) - The state spends a million dollars a year, filling prescriptions for prisoners.
Lawmakers say, they can recycle medication, and save money.
The Department of Corrections says they can use left over pills, from prisoners who are released, to fill other inmate's health needs. It's a move they say will save 600 to 800-thousand dollars a year. It's a move the bill's author, Senator Elbert Guillory says, is a good move to ease the budget crunch.
