HOLLYWOOD, CA (FOX44) – Actor John Cusack takes on a darker role as one of the most well-known authors, Edgar Allan Poe, in "The Raven”. This mystery-drama follows a young detective teaming with the famed writer to find a madman committing murders inspired by his books.
Cusack says: "I think it feels like a mash-up of different genres at least when I read the book and McTeigue read the book so I hope it feels like a fever dream about Poe and it just happens to be me and this group of people."
Cusack enjoyed the challenge of tapping into the poet’s dark side.
Cusack says: "He got real famous and there was no copyright law and you couldn't get paid but everyone around the world knew “The Raven so he was at war about that. // i think he lived in extreme circumstance the fame was the only thing he could hold on to and realized to get recognized to be the greatest writer in the world, it will lift him out of his poverty and not have to deal with the ghost from his head."
