BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - It's hurricane season, and concerned citizens are getting ready for storm damage by learning how to respond at the Red Cross.
Classrooms were silent as volunteers listened to veteran responders on what to do when a storm hits.
Today was the overview, and they listed tips like filling your vehicle's gas tank, and closing windows, doors and hurricane shutters.
They also taught why it's important to be a "self-responder".
"You can be your own first responder, so that's why we promote learning your CPR courses here, learning your First Aid so that you can be the best help for your family and neighbors." - said Nancy Malone, Red Cross Public Information Officer
