PORT ALLEN, LA — American Red Cross volunteers are arranging lunch for the evacuated West Baton Rouge residents who stayed in hotels overnight. About 200 people are staying at three hotels, where Red Cross volunteers will distribute lunch today. The Red Cross continues to work with West Baton Rouge Parish officials to meet the immediate needs of displaced residents.

On Monday, more than a dozen Red Cross volunteers supported evacuation centers at the West Baton Rouge (in Port Allen) and Erwinville Community Centers. They provided snacks and water throughout the day and served dinner. Additional volunteers were prepared to open an overnight shelter if needed.

The Red Cross volunteers’ service has been vital assistance during this industrial situation. We appreciate your coverage.
