Representative, citizens speak out about debt crisis

BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — The crisis has been averted. There will be no default and the U.S. Government will continue to be able to pay its bills.

President Obama signed an extension fo the debt ceiling soon after it passed the Senate. This was with only seven hours to spare.

Obama called out lawmakers for pushing the country to brink of financial chaos. The drama on Capital Hill leaving citizens with mixed reactions. Baton Rouge resident Marcus Green saying, "If I ran my finances like that I would be living on the street, right?" Fellow citizen Thomas Schulze is happy though that they finally reached a compromise, "If it helps the country I'm all for it."

Congressman Bill Cassidy believes it will take a long time before we fix this debt crisis, "We didn't get to this degree of deficit in a short period of time, it took quite some time. Similarly, it will take more than one step for us to get out, but it's a good beginning step."
