Rise in foreclosed homes in the Capitol City
BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - Over 500 foreclosed homes in Baton Rouge have been sold by the Sheriff's Department over the last two weeks.
The first sale of a foreclosed home in Baton Rouge happened on July 12th.
Since then, a total of 5 hundred and 8 homes have been sold.
The total number of homes that have been seized in 2011 so far is just over a thousand.
Last year the Sheriff seized just under 3 thousand homes, only 8 hundred and 10 were actually sold.
Corelogic reports that foreclosure rates in Baton Rouge have gone up since last year.
However the Capitol City is far below the national foreclosure rate.
And that rate is also lower than other major cities in Louisiana.
