BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) – Governor Jindal has issued a state of emergency, and the DOTD has already issued a travel advisory for most of our viewing area.
DOTD says they’ll be out trying to keep any roads that ice over as clear as possible. However, they along with the State Police say it’s critical to give yourself extra time and try to avoid driving if at all possible.
"We tell people to slow down, increase their following distance and really just pay attention to what's going on," State Trooper Russell Graham said when asked about driving conditions.
Most state offices are closed throughout the state. Several school closures are also scheduled.
