Robbers shoot man as he was leaving his house
AMITE, LA — Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that the Criminal Investigations Unit of the sheriff’s office is investigating a shooting which occurred at a residence on HWY 445 on Friday May 25.
Upon arrival, deputies cleared the residence and located the victim, Gary Bryant, 45, of Amite. It was reported that the suspects left the scene prior to deputies arrival.
The victim stated that two unknown black males approached him as he was leaving his residence demanding money. One of the suspects then produced a handgun. A brief altercation took place, however, the victim as able to escape and flee on foot.
As he was running from the residence, shots were fired subsequently striking the victim several times.
The suspects then fled the scene in a small white SUV. The victim is currently hospitalized due to the nature of his injuries.
The suspects are expected to be between the ages of 25 – 30 yoa.
