BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - Hundreds of police officers from all over EBR Parish are patrolling downtown streets this 4th of July.

"We're very concerned about the safety of all that come down here", says Sgt. Don Stone, of the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Stone says officers from 5 agencies will be on the street - both in uniform, and in plain clothes. The goal is to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Stone has a strong message for criminals. "If it's your intent to come down here and commit some type of criminal act - stay at home, we don't have you here... the jail's open, the Sheriff says he'll take as many as can bring to him", says Stone.
