Saint fall short to Packers, 42-34

Friday, September 9, 2011 - 12:21am

A goal line stand by the Packers defense on the last play of the game denied the Saints a chance at a two-point conversion and overtime. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers passed for three touchdowns as Green Bay defeated New Orleans, 42-34.

The Saints fell behind early after Marques Colston fumbled on the Saints first possession. Just a couple plays later Rodgers connected with Jordy Nelson to give the Packers a 14-0 lead. The Saints would trail from the Packers first score and wouldn’t come closer than seven points the remainder of the game.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees passed for 419 yards and 3 touchdowns in the losing effort.
