Santorum leading Romney in new poll

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 - 7:57pm

U.S. (FOX44) - A new national poll shows Rick Santorum vaulting to a virtual tie with Mitt Romney among Republican voters.

The poll shows Santorum with 30 percent support and Romney at 28 percent.

Newt Gingrich trails at 17 percent, with Ron Paul at 12 percent in the survey.

Apparently, Romney is losing support among independent voters.

Just a month ago, Romney led President Obama by 10 points among independents in a hypothetical matchup. However this month, Romney trails the President by 9 points.
