BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — The East Baton Rouge Metro Council voted in favor of renewing a contract to keep the shotspotter crime cameras up in the community. The 147 cameras zoom in on areas where gunshots have gone off. They're spread out over six different dangerous areas in the capitol city. It will cost $182, 072 to take care of them for a year.

However, there is still debate over the regular crime cameras. Some Metro Council members say they're not sure if those cameras work. They decided to wait another two weeks before voting to renew a 90-day contract to keep those cameras in good shape. That will cost the parish more than $65,000.
