Shuttle Endeavour Launches For The Last Time

Monday, May 16, 2011 - 2:48pm

A bittersweet morning at Florida's Kennedy Space Center as NASA launches space shuttle Endeavour for the last time.
It lifted off at 8:56am eastern standard time this morning carrying a six member crew on a mission to deliver spare parts to the International Space Station.

An electrical problem had grounded the mission two weeks ago.

The flight is under the command of astronaut Mark Kelly, husband of Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who was wounded in a mass shooting in Arizona in January.

She watched the launch in private from Kennedy Space Center.
