BATON ROUGE, La (WGMB) Tonight, Capital City residents came together in honor of the life and memory of Alexandra Engler, and to support her young daughter, Ariana.
Friends of Alexandra Engler, B.R.A.S.S. , and the Beauregard Town Civic Association sponsored a silent bike ride from the Brew Ha-Ha cafe' on Jefferson Highway to the streets of Beauregard Town.
It was just a couple of weeks ago that the Engler's home was burglarized and the mother and daughter were brutally gunned down. Alexandra, a single mother, died from the gunshots, while 9 year old Ariana is still recovering from her injuries.
Organizers of the event say they want to give little Ariana hope and let her know she is not alone.
Donations were taken at the bike ride. And Chase bank is also accepting donations for the Engler family. Those who wish to give can also donate on line at: http://www.beauregardtownbr.org.
All proceeds will go to Ariana Engler and her long term well-being and recovery.
