KENTWOOD, LA (FOX44) - A small community in St. Helena Parish says they've had enough of a recent rash of burglaries.

St. Helena Parish Sheriff Nat Williams said for over three weeks, fifteen people have been arrested for burglary and theft.

The local neighboood watch has taken the necessary steps to combat these burglaries , by watching their neighbors' houses, holding meetings, and some are carrying 22 caliber rifles and small gauge shotguns.

The group feels they've been misrepresented in the media, saying they carry "Assault Weapons". which they say they do not.

Neighborhood watch member Alton Travis says they just want their neighborhood back.

"It's people around here that two weeks ago that couldn't go to the store without worrying about their house getting broken into." says Travis
