BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - The Southern Jags are coming off another heartbreaking loss this weekend. But now on the latter end of the season, Coach Stump Mitchell feels they're finally working all the kinks out.
This past week at Mumford Stadium might've been a tough loss, but it showed the Jags what they're doing well. Their defense is finally clicking, and their running game totalled over more than 100 yards for the first time this season.
Coach Mitchell says the key to victory against Arkansas-Pine Bluff this week is pass blocking, he says if they can get their quarterback more time in the pocket, the Jags should see bigger plays down field.
"I think our guys can run block against these guys, now we're gonna work hard the rest of this week to become better pass blockers, but make no stretch of the imagination, we're coming downhill, that's what these guys can do." Southern Jags Head Coach, Stump Mitchell, said.
