BATON ROUGE, La (WGMB)--The Southern University System Radiothon raked in $90,000 over the weekend.

The 20th annual event aired live for 12 hours on three different radio stations. Organizers say they met their goal and then some.

"We are appreciative that our students, alumni, and supporters have joined together for the past 20 years to make this event a huge success, and we anticipate the continuance of this tradition for years to come,"said Ernie T. Hughes, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement.

All proceeds from the 2010 Radiothon supports student scholarships, assistantships, and youth programs.

Donations/pledges to this year's Radiothon can still be made by logging on to and clicking on the SU Foundation link or by contacting the SU Foundation Office at 225-771-3911.
