BATON ROUGE (FOX44) - Saturday students at Southern University banded together with the community groups to clean up surrounding neighborhoods on Goudchaux street.

It was a partnership between Southern students, the Community Against Drugs and Violence that got lots of work done Saturday morning.

They cleaned up several lots, and helped turn a piece of property in the back of the neighborhood into a beautiful pocket park.

Marlon Stepps was one of those students, he says it's only right that they give back.

"At Southern University, they have good networking, they have a good relationship, so I feel that since the community supports southern university, southern university should support the community." Marlon Stepps, a Southern student, said.
