Southern tops Nicholls St., 6-4

SU's Frazier Hall hit 2 home runs and Wilmy Marrero also went deep, as the Southern Jaguars picked up another mid week out of conference win with a 6-4 win over Nicholls State in a game played in New Iberia.

Brian Rowry collected three hits on the night, along with Kevin Williams and DeMario Ellis for the Jags.

TJ Pryer picked up his third win of the season, against two defeats, in going seven innings, striking out seven, but allowing all four runs. Joshua Rochelle picked a scoreless seven striking out two, and Kyle Wahl came in to close out the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the season.

Southern host Grambling State at 11 am & 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, in the annual “Negro League Throwback” Weekend. The first game has been moved to 11 am to ensure that the second game starts at 3 pm. The second game will be televised live by Cox Sports
