Southern University has Traffic Safety Day
BATON ROUGE, LA(FOX44) — Southern University proclaims Tuesday Ovtober 25 Traffic Safety Day.
The ceremony included a demonstration of what happens when drivers get into an accident and aren't wearing their seatbelts.
Representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Louisiana State Police took part in the safety ceremony.
Rhonda Wilson was a featured speaker at the event. A drunk driver killed her daughter just four years ago, "The last four years have truly, truly, been rough on me and my family. It just literally tore us apart," says Wilson.
In 2010, 635 people did in traffic accidents in Louisiana. Thirty-nine percent of those accidents involved a drunk driver.
