GONZALES, LA (FOX44) - Saturday, lots of people from the community of St. Amant made their way out to St. Amant Park for the Caring for Cameron benefit.
Cameron Laiche is only two and half years old, and he's been travelling as far as Houston to get the care he needs.
Cameron suffers from a rare disease that causes his blood sugar to drop dangerously low when he gets sick.
"I mean, it makes us feel so special, it's like the community as a whole is just awesome, it's like there's none other than Ascension Parish out here."
Organizers say, by only 2:00 Saturday afternoon they had raised over $12,000 for Cameron's medical and travel expenses.
