State Education Superintendent To Announce Resignation
State Education Superintendent Paul Pastorek will announce his resignation on May 10th, according to multiple media sources. Pastorek, a New Orleans resident, was named superintendent in March 2007. He has pushed for education reform, including an unsuccessful attempt to impose standards on local school boards. Chas Roemer, a member of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, says he heard that Pastorek planned to step down, but he had not received confirmation.
