BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — State Farm is raising its rates by almost eight percent here in Louisiana.
The company insures more than 300-thousand homes across the state.
State Farm originally asked to increase by even more than that, but the Louisiana Insurance Department declined the request.
Those new rates will be effective on February 15, 20121 for new policies, and April 1, 2012 for existing policies that are being renewed.
We want to know how you feel about the rate increase. Will this make you more likely to change your policy provider? Tell us your thoughts on the FOX44 Facebook page.
