BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - State museums have been devastated by recent budget cuts, and the Secretary of State's office is giving their all to preserve our culture.
Museums already operate on a low budget with part time or volunteer workers.
Now, they're having to close and cut back museums in small towns.
While most employees understand the budget cuts, they indicate these cultural facilities are an important piece of our heritage.
"We made substantial cuts and cutbacks and with this latest round it pretty much put us down to the bone structure, and that's what we had to impliment. And we're hoping for no further cuts in some of the rural museums that we've had in the past. " - said Secretary of State Tom Schedler
