BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - The Capitol City now joins cities like New York, Boston, and Denver as one of the next cities to have an annual Marathon.
Runners from 46 states and 11 countries poured into Baton Rouge this weekend to test their feet on Red Stick Ground.
This event featured live bands, great food from local vendors, and Fun Runs for adults and kids.
This year's winner was Matthew Manning. He's a Baton Rouge native, and says he's happy not only to win the first Marathon for his city, but for how much good these types of events do for the health of Baton Rouge.
"Seventy-five bucks, go out and get a pair of shoes, a little free time after or before work, and you can make some big improvements on your health by getting out there," said Manning.
