Surfers in Virginia Beach honor a fallin soldier
VIRGINA BEACH, Va (FOX44) - More than two-hundred surfers near Virginia Beach honored one of the Navy Seals who died aboard a downed helicopter in Afghanistan.
The surfers and stand-up paddlers formed a giant circle near little island fishing pier Tuesday night, one of Kraig Vickers' favorite surfing spots.
They interlocked hands and paddles in the ceremony called a paddle-out, then the surfers cast flowers into the ocean.
A picture of Vickers was propped up in the sand, it showed him sitting on the beach with his daughter in his arms.
Vickers lived in Virginia Beach with his wife and children, with another child on the way.
