Takeru Kobayashi claims he broke a world record
NEW YORK (FOX44) - One man is claiming he's the “top dog” when it comes to hot dogs.
Legendary Takeru Kobayashi, who once ruled the Nathan's Coney Island hot dog eating championships, says he broke a world record.
He competed in this rival event in New York on the Fourth of July, and says he ate sixty nine hot dogs in ten minutes.
Breaking Joey Chestnut's record of sixty eight he set in 2009.
The record isn't likely to be recorded because the event wasn't sanctioned by the Major League Eating or Guinness World Records.
The Japanese eater was banned at Nathan's contest last year because of a contract dispute with Major League Eating.
