Teacher arrested for punching student

BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Deputies arrested a Mckinley High School teacher for allegedly punching a student in the face. Teacher Richard Haywood, 61, is charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from Mckinley High just before 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Haywood got into a fight with a student in the schools hallway when the student refused to listen.

The student tried to get to his locker after Haywood told him to stop. The two began pushing each other and eventually it led to the teacher punching the student in the face.
