Ten Commandments stolen from Denham Springs church

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (FOX44) - Police officers from Denham Springs say they're on the lookout for thieves who stole the Ten Commandments from the First United Methodist Church Thursday night.

The Denham Springs Police Department says they got a call late Thursday night from a youth minister at the church, saying the stone tablets that belong in the front of the church went missing.

Church administrators say they won't press charges if the tablets are found, but they say the thieves should've read what they were stealing.

"’Why would someone steal the Ten Commandments?’, and I said, ‘Well obviously, they didn't read them first, because they missed the line about Thou Shall Not Steal’”, stated Assistant Reverend Ginny Allen at the First United Methodist Church.

The DSPD says they need your help to find the thieves. If you have information, please call CrimeStoppers at 344-STOP (7867).
