BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - "It makes me feel great because actually I didn't realize there were so many things offered for the kids," said Keianna Williams, a parent of a new pre-schooler.
Williams was one of many parents that came out to the Mall of Cortana from 11:00-2:00 p.m. to see all the great things that East Baton Rouge Parish schools has to offer.
"We need this in our school system and I think its great that they're wiling to come out here and say how great East Baton Rouge's School system is," said Williams.
Within just the first hour, East Baton Rouge teachers and volunteers helped over 300 families, and lots of parents were happy to see that much interaction.
"The word you said was exposure, you know, the more parents can get out and expose their kids to different things, different events, different social settings, the easier it is for them to be successful in the classroom," said Parkview Elementary Gifted and Talented Teacher, Carrie Marsala.
This is the third year the mall of cortana has hosted "Pre-school Palooza" and every year Teachers say the looks on parents' faces look more relaxed.
"Just a wide range of services to help the child and the family be more successful, be more happy, be more healthy," said Marsala.
Many parents said because of events like these, they feel better about introducing their small child to a bigger school system.
"He keeps saying, mommy I'm ready to go to the big boy school," said Williams about her son.
